Tooth loss can impact your confidence, ability to chew, and overall health. At Hyde Park Dental Arts, we specialize in crafting personalized dentures that restore your smile and quality of life. Whether you’re missing one tooth or an entire arch, our team uses the latest techniques and high-quality materials to ensure your new dentures are functional, natural-looking, and comfortable.

What Are Dentures?
Dentures are removable prosthetic devices that replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Modern advancements in dental technology have significantly improved the fit, appearance, and durability of today’s dentures.
Every denture at our practice is custom-fabricated to ensure it complements your facial structure, bite alignment, and aesthetic preferences.
Am I a Candidate for Dentures?
Dentures may be the right choice for you if you:
- Have lost several or all of your teeth due to decay, gum disease, or trauma
- Are you experiencing difficulty eating or speaking due to missing teeth
- Want an affordable and non-invasive tooth replacement option
- Have healthy gum tissue and bone to support a denture or dental implant
- Seek to improve facial appearance and prevent jaw sagging
We’ll perform an oral exam to determine your eligibility and help you choose the most suitable denture solution.

Benefits of Dentures
- Restore Your Smile: Dentures replace missing teeth to restore a full, natural-looking smile. They improve overall appearance and help maintain facial balance and symmetry.
- Regain Function: With dentures, you can comfortably chew, bite, and speak again, restoring essential oral functions that may have been compromised by tooth loss.
- Support Facial Muscles: Dentures provide necessary structural support to facial muscles, helping prevent sunken cheeks and preserving your face’s natural shape and youthfulness.
- Boost Self-Esteem: A complete smile enhances your confidence, making social interactions, professional engagements, and everyday communication more comfortable and enjoyable.
- Affordable: Dentures offer an economical tooth replacement option, especially for full-arch restorations, allowing you to regain your smile without a significant financial burden.
Types of Dentures We Offer
At Hyde Park Dental Arts, we understand that each patient’s needs are unique. That’s why we offer a wide range of denture options designed to restore comfort, function, and aesthetics based on your level of tooth loss and oral health.
Full Dentures
Also known as complete dentures, full dentures are used when all natural teeth are missing from either the upper or lower jaw, or both. These dentures rest directly on the gums and are custom-made to ensure a natural appearance and secure fit.
- Conventional Full Dentures
These are fabricated and placed after the remaining teeth have been extracted and the gum tissues have fully healed, usually taking 8–12 weeks. This healing period allows for a better, longer-lasting fit, as the shape of the jaw and gums stabilize. Conventional dentures are known for their durability and comfort once the healing process is complete.
- Immediate Dentures
Immediate dentures are prepared and inserted the same day the remaining teeth are removed. This option ensures you’re never without teeth during the healing phase. While convenient, these dentures often require adjustments and relining as your gums heal and shrink over time. They’re ideal for patients who prioritize uninterrupted aesthetics and function.
Partial Dentures
Partial dentures are best suited for patients with healthy, natural teeth. They help restore function, prevent remaining teeth from shifting, and maintain the natural alignment of your bite.
- Cast Metal Partial Dentures
These dentures use a metal framework (typically cobalt-chromium) for superior strength and stability. The framework is designed to fit precisely around natural teeth, with replacement teeth attached to gum-colored acrylic bases. Cast metal dentures are known for longevity and firm support, making them ideal for long-term use.
- Flexible Partial Dentures
Made from soft, thermoplastic materials such as nylon, these dentures offer enhanced comfort and aesthetics. They blend more naturally with your gum tissue and are less likely to cause irritation or pressure. Flexible partials are particularly beneficial for patients with sensitive gums or those seeking a more discreet tooth replacement option.
Implant-Supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures offer the ultimate solution in denture stability and function. These dentures are securely anchored to titanium implants surgically placed in the jawbone, providing a more natural feel and improved oral function.
Unlike conventional dentures, implant-supported options do not shift or slip, making speaking and eating much easier. They also help preserve jawbone density by stimulating the bone, something traditional dentures cannot do.
What to Expect During Your Denture Treatment
- Step 1: Comprehensive Consultation: Our dentist conducts a full exam, takes digital X-rays, and reviews your dental and medical history. We discuss your goals and preferences and determine the best course of action.
- Step 2: Impressions and Bite Registration: We take accurate impressions and measurements to ensure optimal denture fit and jaw alignment. Your input helps shape the look of your new smile.
- Step 3: Custom Fabrication: Using modern dental labs and biocompatible materials, your dentures are designed to replicate the appearance and function of natural teeth.
- Step 4: Fitting and Adjustments: Once ready, we perform fittings and make necessary adjustments to ensure comfort, proper bite, and natural aesthetics.
- Step 5: Ongoing Support & Maintenance: We provide detailed aftercare instructions and schedule follow-up visits to maintain the fit and function of your dentures.

Patient Testimonials
He is the best dentist I have ever had! I recently went to two dentists and an oral surgeon who wanted to extract a molar. Dr. Tufankjian removed the old crown and skillfully repaired my molar and placed a state of the art Zirconium crown. He also did two implants for me. His staff is awesome and accommodating. Look no further for excellence!
A great dentist who listens to his patients!!
The most amazing experience I’ve had with any dentist!! Dr. Tufankjian is both an excellent and attentive dentist, he insures comfort and instills confidence in his performance. Dr. Tufankjian was very supportive and understanding of my anxieties and took time to explain all procedures. The staff were incredibly knowlegable and worked with me to make sure my needs were met and my questions were answered timely. I wouldn’t trust my oral care to anyone else.
So far so good! After doing alot of research and previously getting sub par work (that had to be replaced) I found Hyde Park Dentistry. I used to work in a dental office so I know what to look out for. If you need implants – go there ! They can do everything in office. Other offices you are sent in a merry-go-round to different specialist then come back then again. The extra 10 minutes drive from Poughkeepsie was worth it ! The guy is very easy to talk with and not once tried to over-treat.
Was a previous patient of Dr Whalen before Dr T took over. Very good experience, caring and attentive. Been going here for years. Never give more treatment than you need. I highly recommend.
